Stone began writing music for this upcoming Gone Still album during his senior year of high school. The song, “Time” was the first to be written and became a submission to the MMEA All-State Collective Ensemble. The ensemble emphasizes songwriting and contemporary musicianship of high school students. “Time” not only earned Stone a place in the Collective ensemble, but got the attention of Dr. Clint Randles, Professor of Music and Co-Director of Contemporary Commercial Music at the University of South Florida School of Music..Dr. Randles then recruited Stone to attend college at USF where he is currently working toward a degree in Contemporary Commercial Music.
This video is a performance from the 2024 MMEA Conference and Stone is accompanied by the musicians of the Collective ensemble.
“Ivory Sheets” was the second song written for this upcoming album and was initially an original composition submitted to the University of Missouri (MIZZOU) School of Music's annual Creating Original Music Project competition (COMP). This competition is what gave Stone his start for writing music when he was in 5th grade. “Ivory Sheets” won first place in the Pop acoustic division in 2024.
